Base Makeup Review 1 (:

Base makeup are actually your foundation , concealer , primer etc .

What Are Foundations?

Facial make-up or foundations are pigmented products intended for application on the face and the neck.
They colour the skin evenly and hide facial imperfection such as scars, depressions and dark and light coloured areas. Foundations come in several forms:

1.Emulsions
: They give less sheen than liquid or cream foundations, but cover blemishes very well.

2.Creams: These contain a high proportion of oils, they are particularly suitable for dry skins. These also provide a heavy cover, but give a glossy finish.

3.Liquids: Available for all skin types, they are the commonest type of foundation used along with the cake variety. They give a light sheen cover but are too light to cover any blemishes and scars.

4.Gels: These give a light, natural look and are the variety you should use if you have a blemish free normal skin.

5.Cakes Or Sticks: These are the solid forms of foundation.Since they have a drying effect, use them on an oily skin. They give a dense matt cover and are good for covering blemishes and scars.
Solid forms are popular for photographic and stage work but are too heavy for everyday use.

6.Powders: The original full coverage face powders have now given way to transparent powders which control shine and provide oil-blotting.

They are used after foundations to give a matt finish. Cake or compact powders are more heavily formulated;and are best suited for touching up during the day, when they help to reinforce coverage because they contain a certain amount of foundation

How do you choose your base makeup ?
For me , I will look at these factors:

- Suncreen
- Coverage
- How does the finish looks like ? (Cakey , Dewy , Sheer, Matte)
- How fast it oxidies (by reading MANY reviews)
- Any negative comments (so to avoid it)
- Price and branding
- Suitable for which kind of skin type .

- Sweat resistance

Those are very important factors for me to choose a foundation suitable for me . I have Dry and sensitive skin .

All the reviews are solely based on my own experience .

I won't be responsible if there is any negative effects on you .

Sweat resistance: Average
Oil control: Average

I used this back 3 years ago when i just started to put on makeup . Bought it due to many awards won by this product .

But it doesn't really suit my skin as it gets wash off after I sweat in warm weather .

Oxidies a little fast , so if I don't buy a tone lighter , i will probably look very dark .

This product is definitely recommended for first time user (:

This is one of the high end 2 way cake which I love . Quite expensive but worth the price . The casing is cool too .

If you want to buy , better ask someone to get it for you at DFS (:

I love this because it doesn't oxidies much , or rather not too obvious as it has whitening effects . It does not seems cakey and gives you a sheer finish .

Perhaps it's better than the Mat lumiere xD

Cons: Doesn't cover your blemish and dark circles .

I am using 30 beige . (SA chose it for me =.=) Dry block .

Sunscreen: SPF12 PA++
Coverage: Medium
Oxidies rate: High
Finish: Cakey
Sweat resistance: Slightly above Moderate
Oil control: average

If you want to buy the foundation , you can wait for the promotion so that you can get a nice casing free (:

I chose this foundation early this year due to it's brand and the phrase 'zero pores' really attracts me . It does live up it's name for giving me zero pores .

But the only disappointment was the shade that the SA insisted and it looks very cakey despite using the sponge , brush or even wet the sponge to apply .

Perhaps it's more suitable for people whose skin are very dry . Mine is more of mild dry .

Really have to choose the shade properly as it oxides relatively fast (for my case) . I regret trusting the SA as the shade makes me look blacker when i am already very tanned .

Personally , I think that this product will help for those people with oily skin (using the oil block one) .

Product name: Etude House Precious Mineral Sheer Glowing Skin BB Cream
Price: $39.90
Place to purchase: Etude house (Near Orchard MRT , Plaza Singapura)

Sunscreen: SPF30 PA++
Coverage: Medium
Oxidies rate: Low
Finish: Sheer
Sweat resistance: Good
Oil control: average
Smell: A little like Chemical ...
Shade: Pinkish undertone .

This is the first BB cream which i have tried . Very pinkish for someone as tanned as me , so must match with my Ettusais foundation , which seems very dark for me .

It gives a sheer finish and i love it (: However , I loathe it's oil control . By a few hours , my face will become oily (though i supposed to have dry in , especially in aircon) .

It covers most of the blemish , except dark circles . Worth a try for people with fair skin .

Ok , that's all for now . I will be reviewing about my biore suncreen cum base and my new Shiseido base makeup when I am free (:
