Does this Spaghetti looks delicious to you ? I was aiming to cook something like that back in my Secondary 1 Home Economics practical exam .
I was supposed to cook a meal for 2 person , which only consist 1 type of main course . Since everyone told me Spaghetti was the easiest , I picked this dish for my exam .
By the way , I only have 1 hour to cook everything .
Let me tell you , I am not blessed with the talent of cooking though I can do many other things . And this exam gave me a most DISASTROUS cooking experience .
I have neither cook nor see my younger sisters and mother cook before .
What I did was to look and listen to my sisters explanation on how to cook on the day before .
She gave me this:
Half a packet of the exact packaging of spaghetti .
She said this "Ah bee , this will be enough for 2 person . Just cook them all can already."
So I listened to her and cooked the remaining half . Guess what happened ?
Indeed , it's enough for 2 person . But the amount was WAY TOO MUCH till it's for 4 person .
and I only found out after the whole thing when I placed them on the plate . It's damn horrendous to see the spaghetti overflow out of the plate .
Worst , I spent more than 15 minutes to open the small can of mushroom . The canned opener they have are those old fashioned ones ; those moon shaped blade that you have to poke into the metal with your brute strength .
I ended up losing time to even cut the stupid mushroom and I just threw all of them into the saucepan with the sauce .
As I was panic , I didn't even use my brain and check if the spaghetti was cooked . I thought after putting them into the pot and boiled for about 40 minutes will be enough .
People told me this "Selina , 40 minutes will be enough if your quantity wasn't that much . "
After the whole thing , my spaghetti looked horrible . Morever , it's half cooked . No one came and taste it after seeing such disgusting food .
What's worse was my own cliques still joke about this when we talked about cooking . They couldn't forget that scene back 5 years ago .
Though I don't cook as horrible as 5 years ago for now , this exam is still my disastrous cooking experience .
This is a new upcoming movie , Julie and Julia . After looking at the trailer , it reminds me of my experiences in cooking , be it good or disastrous .
