Lunch/Shopping with Ashley + Atiqah's Birthday + Rants

Saturday
Didn't sleep well and I gotta wake up for work.

A bad feeling for work;
AND INDEED BAD, I spilled a bottle of tiger on myself (All thanks to the bottle holder).

However, everything was alright and I have free dinner to eat too!

After work, it's Mahjong time!
But I rested early as I was really tired.

Sunday
Tired. Bad mood. Muscle aches. Monthly friend.
= A bad combination.

I hate it when I didn't get to watch my movie due to a last minute plan.

It pissed me even more because the staff at the Cheesecake Cafe chose to ask the existing customers if they want the remaining cakes instead of asking the ones standing in front of the counter.

And after they took it, they tell the man that there's no more cake!
Bad service.

Monday
Met Ashley for lunch at town area.
We ate at TCC (:

Regretted ordering that much as we couldn't finish them.
Stayed there till the rain stopped.

Massive shopping time~
Ran out of too many things at the same time!

Stayed at home and read for the day till dinner time.

Had dinner at Men Men Don Don.
Cheaper Alternative for Japanese food. 


Chawanmushi. 

Was feeling quite tired for the whole day but I was dragged out for Atiqah's birthday celebration at Kbox Cineleisure.

It's rather last minute. 

Either way, it's good to see Atiqah, Keith, Edmund and Faiz. 
It has been a long time.


*Blowing whistle* Faiz helped Atiqah to wear her new necklace. 

Didn't stay for long as I wasn't feeling very well.

Today
Gastric, don't feel well for the day.

Stayed at home and rest as much as I can.
Prepared for work in the evening.

Nothing much, it's rather boring after a certain timing.

Introduction + History + Review of Mascara .

Introduction on Mascara:

Mascara is a cosmetic used to darken, lighten or colour lashes, also it can be used to thicken, lengthen and define eyelashes. Mascara comes in three forms: liquid, cake, and cream. It also comes in many formulas, tints, and colours.

The general purpose of mascara is to define, thicken, lengthen, and emphasise lashes. Mascara is available with tube and wand applicators. Ingredients in mascara include water, wax thickeners, film-formers, and preservatives.

Mascara brushes can be straight or curved, to curl eye lashes, with fine or thick bristles. Some mascara wands contain rayon or nylon fibers to lengthen eyelashes .

History of Mascara:

The first mascara product was invented by Eugene Rimmel in the 19th century. The word "rimmel" still means "mascara" in several languages, including Portuguese (rímel), Turkish (rimel), Romanian (rimel), Dutch (rimel), Persian (rimel) etc.

The word mascara derives from the Italian maschera, which means "mask" from Middle Latin masca or Arabic Maskhara or from Old Occitan masco . Modern mascara was created in 1913 by a chemist named T. L. Williams for his sister, Mabel. This early mascara was made from coal dust mixed with Vaseline petroleum jelly. The product was a success with Mabel, and Williams began to sell his new product through the mail. His company Maybelline, a combination of his sister's name and Vaseline, eventually became a leading cosmetics company.

Mascara is used to darken and thicken lashes, and was composed of colorants and carnauba wax. Users wet a brush and rubbed it over the cake, then applied it to the eyes. Mascara is used by women to enhance eyes as well as draw attention to them.

The modern tube and wand applicator was more appealing to the market than the old "cake" mascara. Max Factor was the first to create a mascara with a wand applicator in the product tube, which started the modern mascara products available today.

Composition of Mascara:

Modern mascaras can be divided in two groups: water resistant mascaras (often labeled waterproof) and non-water resistant mascaras.

Water resistant mascaras have a composition based on a volatile solvent (isododecane - an isomer of dodecane), animal-derived waxes (beeswax), vegetal based waxes (carnauba wax, rice bran wax, candelila wax), mineral origin wax (ozokerite, paraffin), pigments (iron oxide, ultramarine) and filmifying polymers. These mascaras do not contain water-sensitive moieties, offering an excellent resistance to tears, sweat or rain. As a result, these mascaras can only be removed with a specific make-up remover, able to dilute the dried mascara film.

Egg whites are often used in colored mascara.

Non water-resistant mascaras are based on water, soft surfactants (like triethanolamine stearate), animal-derived waxes (beeswax), vegetal based waxes (carnauba wax, rice bran wax, candelilla wax), mineral origin waxes (ozokerite, paraffin), pigments (iron oxide, ultramarine), thickening polymers (gum arabic, hydrophobically modified cellulose) and on preservatives. These mascaras can run under the effect of tears, but are easily removed with some soap and water.

Polymers in a water dispersed form (latexes) can bring some level of water resistance to the group of normally non-water resistant mascaras.

Waterproof mascaras are similar to oil-based or solvent-based paints. Non water-resistant mascaras behave like water based paints. For intermediate water sensitivity, mascaras and latex-based paints (acrylates) contain polymer dispersions.

Do note that Mascara can only be used up to 3 months once you have opened it . If you used longer than that duration , it may cause infection to the eyes . The bacterias are the ones which caused it .

Spoil mascara will have a very strong smell . You will know the smell when you use it . If it change , do throw it away .

Ok , enough of the introduction of Mascara . Now we shall go on to reviews .

Reviews: This was the first mascara i have used back when i was Secondary 3 . I was really fascinated by how the mascara was used on BoA's eyelashes , ambassador for Fasio back then . It really seems good when you look at the magazine .

Indeed , it's good enough for volume . However , it dries up fairly fast and it clogs easily . I didn't use it too frequently so i don't really know why it's happening in it .

Bad thing about fasio mascara is that it's REALLY HARD to wash off . Last time , i used the normal makeup remover and i couldn't remove it . It can even stay there for at least 2 days . Even with my Fancl oil base makeup remover , it's a little hard to remove it .

Ever since , i didn't use Fasio mascara anymore .

Reviews: I got this as a sample from my aunt . I must admit that i was never a fan of European/USA cosmetics products . I am more of the Japan cosmetics fan .

I would say that this mascara really surprised me with it's effect . It's quite nice to use and easy to wash off . The mascara makes my lashes look longer than usual .

However , it's very easily to wash off , even by mere rubbing and tears fell off . It smudges a little , but it's acceptable . This mascara don't clog .

MAC SPLASHPROOF LASH

Features: Waterproof, long-wearing, length-defining, lash-thickening, and formulated to last. Won't clump, flake, or blot! Takes the splash! Go swim

Reviews: This mascara is really great . Affordable and good . It's waterproof , so that you don't have to worry about tearing when yawning . It won't smudge or clog , so it's really easy to apply .
This mascara can be remove by oil based makeup remover without any problem . It just that it doesn't really lengthen my lashes . Overall , i like it very much .

MAC PRO LASH

Features: Lengthening, thickening, non-flaking, non-smudging... totally hard-wearing. Sassy and lush.
- Good to layer.
- Apply one coat of Pro Lash for enhanced, defined lashes.
- For more drama, build up the layers.
- To layer: apply, allow to dry, then apply again. Pro Lash works the hardest when applied right from the roots of the lashes to the tips.
- For volume, apply Pro Lash to the top side of the lashes first, and then to the under side.

Reviews: This mascara is really great . It really makes my lashes to look thicker and longer . Like what it claim , non-flaking, non-smudging . However , it does clog a little .

It's not waterproof but tearing will not wash the mascara off . Great right ? This also can be removed easily by oil based makeup remover .


Anna Sui DX FULL

Features: Rose Scent
- Dolly look
- Lengthening effect
- non-smudge .

Price: $41 (but i got it cheaper xD)

Rating: 9/10

Reviews: I really like the scent of the mascara . It doesn't have the strong smell like what mascara have . Anna sui mascara is also recommended by a Makeup artist whom i know .

It really gives a dolly look . My lashes looks long and it doesn't really clog . I totally fall in love with it and has been using for 5 months (i bought it twice) .



Ok that's all for now . I hope the review on mascaras really help some of you about choosing mascara . Those are just my personal experiences .

Sorry people for not updating . I am either busy or deprived of sleep + sick .

Saturday
I went out with dear to celebrate our belated one year anniversary . We took a bus to orchard . But who knows there was a heavy rain out of a sudden . So we decided to go to Takashimaya first to wait for the rain to stop .

We went to shop for Gillian's present , bought some stationary and sushi before going out of Takashimaya . We intended to go to Cineleisure to catch a movie . However , we couldn't go anywhere due to the rain .

I can't run a long distance with my heels in the rain . It's dangerous . In the end , we decided to try our luck at Lido .

Apparently , the lady luck wasn't with us on that day .

There were not many shows available , if not , it's showing at night . So we ended up didn't watch any show , but sat aside to eat our delicious sushi (:

After that , we went to Wisma to shop around . I wanted to buy the charles and keith bag , but the white one is sold out . Haiz , what a waste . However , i am glad that i found another bag which caught my eyes .

Hopefully when i go out tomorrow , i can buy those 2 bags (:

Then , we went to Raffles MRT to meet candy before going to O point , which is at Boat Quay . We were kind of lost our way . In fact , O point is just at the other side where we were walking .

We ended up walking a big round . LOL .

The place is a karaoke pub . We reached there and sat down while some of Gillian's friends started to sing (:

It's nice to know more people . Janice was there too . There were photographers there , who are Gillian's friends , so i didn't take any photos . Got to wait till Gillian receives it then i can grab from her .

Anyway , we didn't drink since i don't like Chivas . We drank green tea instead . Nothing much . We were spending our time chatting and taking photos . We left at around 11++ pm so that we could catch the train .

I was kind of tired and i slept almost immediately after cleaning up .

Yesterday
Dear came to my house in the morning . I prepared quickly before Joseph arrived at my house to fetch us to sentosa .

We were having a car shoot for the Nissan skyline and silvia club . I was quite free so i just went there for fun (:

Supposed to have 4 models , but ended up with 2 models . It's kind of tiring to shoot with 8 cars . I can't help but to fall asleep whenever i have break time . I think we stayed there for about 5 hours or even more .

After the shoot , Joseph drove us to Vivo . Dear and i went off as it's quite late already . We happened to see the MAC Hello Kitty Collection launch .

It's really very interesting . Those models are the ones we see on the MAC Hello Kitty Collection Advertisement . It's so cool to be able to take photos with/of them .

After that , we took a train back to Yishun . I bought my dinner at Mcdonald's as dear's aunt was cooking prawn noodles and i can't eat it due to allergy .

I went home afterwards and have a good rest . I even got a fever at night :(

Today
I overslept !! I was supposed to wake up at 8.30am but i slept after dear called me . I am still having the headache right now :(

I went to hail for a cab , but there was none till i walked further down . I was late about 20 minutes . sobsob . Gillian and the other 6 girls reached there already . I was the only one without makeup =.=

Saw Hongling there , for the others , i don't know them except for one .

Nothing much , after that we went to city plaza for a meal/drink . Gillian , Annabel , Chanel and I sat there and chitchat . Suddenly , it rained heavily .

None of us can leave go to paya lebar station . In the end , Gillian and Chanel took a bus while Annabel and i took a cab since i was going to meet my mum at expo .

I would say that outside Expo where they sell food are really poorly sheltered . Most of the seat were very wet and I got drenched .

I ate at Burger King before mummy sent her car to change the engine . We took a cab home and rest while waiting for the car to be ready .

Evening time , we went to collect the car , fetch uncle and go for dinner .

Tomorrow , i will be going to SP for enrollement . Hopefully nothing shocking will happen .
